Story

Sanjana is a single mother. She is raising her youngest daughter, Ria, alone. Sanjana did not finish college, so it was very difficult for her to find a job. Sanjan’s friend Rahul, a lawyer, helped him get a job. But Sanjana was soon unhappy when she came to know a shocking fact about Riya. Shabari is about how this truth changes the lives of Sanjana and Riya.

Plus Point

Varalaxmi Sarathkumar played the main role very well in the movie Sabari. She was great acting as a mother who is worried about keeping her daughter safe. Her acting was excellent throughout the whole movie.

The actor Mime Gopi had an important role in the movie, and he did a good job with his part. Shashank was okay playing the friend of Varalaxmi’s character.

The movie starts in an interesting way that makes you want to keep watching. The movie does a nice job introducing the characters and setting up the story world. The first half of the movie before the interval break is well done and makes you curious to see what happens next.

Minus Point

The main problem with Sabari is that it’s not very fun or interesting. The mental illness depicted in the film is neither new nor original. The filmmakers tried to include plot twists, but it’s not too hard to expect much reveal. The combination of psychological confusion and twists could have allowed for an interesting story, but unfortunately the story remains boring and the potential of the film is underused.

The first half of the film has some interesting moments, but the second half is completely boring and doesn’t work at all. The motives behind the protests are not convincingly shown, which really hurts the film. The climax at the end is a mess – it leaves you feeling emotionless and not interesting at all.

A lot of the movie is stupid and overdone. Even though the overall running time is short, the film is dragged on for no apparent reason. The design team had to take several photos to keep the length short.

Technical Analysis

The songs and background music in the movie are not very memorable or noteworthy. The cinematography by Rahul Shrivastav and Nani Chamidisetty is decent. The production values and technical aspects are fine, but the editing could have been better.

The direction by Anil Katz is disappointing. While Sabari starts with an interesting premise, it fails to deliver because of poor execution. As the movie goes on, it becomes less and less interesting. A better, tighter screenplay could have made Sabari a decent film instead of a disappointing one. The promising initial idea gets let down by the underwhelming way the story is told on screen.

Review

Overall, Sabari is a psychological thriller with an interesting central premise, but fails to deliver a satisfying experience for the audience. While the title has excellent suspense power, the film doesn’t deliver the suspense and substance.

Though Varalakshmi Sarathkumar gave a good performance and there are a few interesting moments, the film ultimately fails. If the filmmakers had been more careful and put more effort into making a solid and interesting film, the end result could have been much better.

The concept behind Sabari had promise, but the poor execution and lack of excitement for most of the film made it a disappointment. With some advances in storytelling and writing, this could have been a much more satisfying psychological thriller than a missed opportunity.
