Story
Antony (Sriram), an accountant in a rice mill, buys a new house in Suklapet. He goes there with his pregnant wife, Mary (Kushi Ravi), his mother, and two daughters, Sophie (baby Leisha) and Tara (baby Chaitra). Soon everyone in the family begins to encounter strange things. They believe the house is haunted and try to leave. Annamma (Demonologist) comes to help them. What happened next? What is the secret behind the house? This leads to the rest of the story.
Technical Aspects
Music director Krishna Saurabh Surampally did a good job with the background music. The intriguing back score doesn’t have much of an impact though, mainly due to problems with the film’s script and story.
Satish Manoharan’s cinematography is visually stunning. The graphics and style effectively create the specific mood needed for a horror film. But the choice to use an old, familiar technique to scare viewers diminishes the overall creepy effect.
The direction given by Saikiran is promising in places. Good thing he didn’t add another unnecessary element. But at the same time, the horror scenes in the film are not very interesting or surprising.
Had Saikiran been more careful about improving the film’s cinematography, the end result of the film would have been much better.
Review
Sai Kiran Daida, the director of Pindam, deftly draws out the heartbreaking atrocities committed against women in the gruesome scenes of horror films. The concept is admirable, and Daida provides some interesting writing. While the premise is strong, a slight tweaking of the film with the addition of new stunning effects could have elevated the film to a higher level of cinematic effect.
